This is the tail spine of the extinct crocodile Metriorhynchus. It comes from the Upper Jurassic deposits – more specifically, the Mörnsheimer Strata (Tithonian - Malm zeta 3). These sediments overlie the Solnhofen Plattenkalk. The fossil is approximately 150 million years old. The stone was broken and measures approximately 24 x 12.5 x 2 cm. Reptile fossils are extremely rare in the Mörnsheimer Strata. No manipulations! ON HOLD
