This is a slab with different bones of Temnodontosaurus. It comes from the so called
"Posidonienschiefer" (Lower Jurassic, Lias epsilon) from Dotternhausen near Balingen in Germany.
The age of this fossil amounts to about 180 million years.
Temnodontosaurs were over 12 meters long animals - they were true giants - their remains are
much rarer to find than, for example those of Stenopterygius.
The stone contains various bones such as vertebrae, ribs, abdominal ribs, the upper arm (humerus)
and some very large phalanges (paddle bones).
The fossils were carefully uncovered using modern sandblasting technology. In the past,
such finds were usually scraped out of the rock, which often severely damaged the bones.
The plate is unbroken, 36 x 23 x 3 cm.
No manipulations.
