This is a larger slab with bones from Eurhinosaurus. It comes from the so called "Posidonienschiefer"
(Lower Jurassic, Lias epsilon) of Dotternhausen in Germany. The age of this fossil amounts to about
180 million years.
Eurhinosaurs were over 6 meters long, they are characterized by their short lower jaw and are found
much more rarely than, for example Stenopterygius.
The stone contains various bones such as vertebrae, ribs, abdominal ribs and some very large
phalanges (paddle bones).
The fossils were carefully uncovered using modern sandblasting technology. In the past, such finds
were usually scraped out of the rock, which often severely damaged the bones.
The plate is unbroken, it measures about 45 x 32 x 2 cm.
No manipulations.
