Turtle bone, German limestone

This is a bone of the turtle Eurysternum wagneri. The fossil comes from the Upper Jurassic (Malm zeta) of Painten in Germany.
It is about 149 million years old.

Reptile specimens are among the rarities in German limestone which are highly sought after by collectors.

The fossil measures about 4 cm, it is nicely centered on the unbroken original matrix (9 x 7 x 1 cm).
