Barasaurus - Body, triassic! # 4

For sale is here a rarely offered fossil. It is a nodule containing a little triassic reptile.    This torso of a Barasaurus was found in triassic sediments of Madagascar.

Due to geological processes the bones were dissolved. Some reptiles swallowed tiny stones. These so called gastroliths are well preserved at this specimen.

The unbroken original nodule measures about 6 x 5 x 2cm.   

Fishes from the Trias of Madagascar are offered from time to time, reptiles from this location are very hard to get! ItÂŽs completely forbidden to export fossils out of Madagascar. No new fossils reach the open market! This fossil comes from an old collection.
