Authentic Mosasaurus Skull (Eremiasaurus heterodontus) – A Genuine Original from Morocco
Acquire an unadulterated piece of Earth's history! This naturally disarticulated Mosasaurus skull stands out for its absolute authenticity. Unlike most finds on the market, nothing here has been added, altered, or artificially assembled.
What was a Mosasaurus? Mosasaurians were the undisputed rulers of the seas at the end of the Cretaceous period. These massive marine reptiles were not dinosaurs in the classical sense, but were closely related to modern-day monitor lizards and snakes. With their streamlined bodies, paddle-like flippers, and jaws full of razor-sharp teeth, they were the apex predators of their time – the T-Rex of the oceans.
Characteristics and Features of Eremiasaurus heterodontus:
Name: The name translates to Desert lizard with different teeth.
Heterodonty: The namesake feature is its dental structure. Unlike many other mosasaurs, which typically possessed uniform teeth, Eremiasaurus had differently shaped teeth: pointed in the front for grasping prey, and more robust and powerful in the back for crushing.
Size: It was a medium-sized mosasaur, reaching a total length of approximately 5 to 6 meters.
Classification: Within the Mosasauridae family, it is assigned to the subfamily Mosasaurinae (closely related to the famous Mosasaurus hoffmanni).
Scientific Data:
Species: Mosasaurus
Age: Upper Cretaceous, Maastrichtian (approx. 66 - 72 million years)
Location: Phosphate mines near Khouribga, Morocco
Formation: Ouled Abdoun Basin
Quality Promise: No Reconstruction! This fossil is a true collector's item. Nothing has been "beautified" with resin, plaster, or foreign bone fragments, nor have any teeth been artificially inserted – a practice that is unfortunately common with Moroccan finds. You see the bone fragments and teeth exactly as they were preserved in the sediment after millions of years. The matrix (the surrounding rock) is original and untouched.
Dimensions: The stone is unbroken and measures approximately 35 x 27 x 10 cm.
Bring the king of the Cretaceous oceans into your home as a pure, original piece!
