This temnospondyl Apateon comes from the Lower Permian "Roliegendes" strata of Odernheim in the Palatinate
region in Germany.
The fossil measures approximately 10.5 cm and is completely preserved. A special feature of the animal is
its skin preservation, allowing the entire body outline to be seen. Skin preservation is rare! Often the
body outline is simply imitated with varnish. Not so with this specimen - everything here is authentic
and original! Also worth mentioning are the amphibian's preserved small teeth.
The stone was broken and measures approximately 20 x 9.5 x 1.8 cm.
The site is now under strict protection; the fossil offered here comes from an old collection.
Superb quality!
