This pygidium (tail shield) of a trilobite comes from the Ordovician of the Niederlausitz area in Germany. The exact site near Greifenhain is a former open-cast mine. Today the area is flooded (Altdöberner See) and unfortunately it is not possible to look for fossils anymore.
The fossil has a size of about 1.5 cm. The stone is unbroken, it measures about 10 x 6 x 4 cm.
Fossils from this extinct location are hardly offered today.
