Placodus gigas incisor

Here we offer a nice incisor of the rare reptile called Placodus gigas. It was found at a quarry in Erkerode/Elm near Braunschweig, Germany. The locataion is closed for more than 150 years. The fossils age is middle triassic (Muschelkalk), it comes from an old collection.

The tooth is complete and measures about 3 cm, it even shows the root and a  piece of the original matrix.

Incisors of this reptile are extremely rare and if you check the web you will defenetly not find any more of these for sale.

This fossil has been part of my private collection for many years, it is the best one Icould ever get and it is really not easy for me to let it go.
