Diplocynodon Crocodile

This fossil is from the Miocene sediments of Gracanica in Bosnia. It is the skull and some postcraniale bones of the Crocodile Diplocynodon which lived about 20 million years ago.

This is an original fossil! Both plates (top and bottom of the fossil) were separately exposed and then inserted into the original sediment. This kind of preparation is much work but its worth it. That way we now can see both sides of the fossil.
