Turtle USA

This turtle comes from the cretaceous sediments of Buffalo Gap, South Dakota/USA.

Since the fossils of this discovery site break if they do not get any restoration (similarly the Messel fossils) the bones of the turtle have been removed from the original sediment and have been put into a matrix (?plaster). All bones are originals! No additions!

The matrix measures about 35 x 23 cm. The head of the turtle measures about 8 x 7 cm. The fossil originates from an old collection, it was in private property for several decades.
