Cast reproduction of a lightly reconstructed skull from Aegyptopithecus zeuxis, known as the "Dawn Ape" that lived in the Miocene Age. This fossil Ape skull was found 1906 in El Fajum, Egypt, it held a brain of only 30 cubic cm. The Aegyptopithecus is known as an early example of an evolutionary line that lead over the "old world apes" to the Hominoids and later to the Hominids. Concerning to the construction of the skeleton and the teeth, its believable that this early ancestor of the mankind lived on trees and had a diet of fruits and leaves.
This cast is handcoloured and made of Epoxi. The colours might be a little differend than shown on the pictures. Because of the handcraft every cast is unique.
