Skull Australopithecus africanus (Mrs. Ples)

Cast reproduction of a Hominid skull from Australopithecus africanus STS 5 , famous under the nickname "Mrs.Ples".This adult cranium was found on the 18th of April 1947 by Robert Broom and John T. Robinson in Sterkfontein,South Africa and published in the same year in the Nature magazin (159;672). The original fossil is in the Transvaal Museum,South Africa. A.africanus lived 2,5 Mio years ago, with the finding of this world famous fossil the A.africanus were accepted as hominids first time by the international scientists comunity.

 

This cast is handcoloured and made of Epoxi. The colours may be a little differend than shown on the pictures. Because of the handcraft every cast is unique.
