Products description

This exhibit shows a predatory fish Pygopterus with a eaten Palaeoniscum in its stomach.

The fossil was part of an exhibition and was mounted on a wooden panel (using three
clamps, not glued).

The find comes from the Kupferschiefer layers (Permian age) of Mansfeld in Sachsen, Germany.
The age of this fossil is about 258 million years.

Pygopterus was a predatory fish and hunted the common small fish Palaeoniscum. Fortunately,
the last meal in this individual is preserved in the stomach. Such finds are extremely rare,
you can clearly see the skull and other bones of the small fish in the stomach of the predator.

The stone was broken, it measures about 33 x 19.5 x 2 cm.

If desired, the wooden plate can be sent with it.

Rarity for the advanced collection.
