Products description
This is a rare coelacanth Coelacanthus granulatus from the Permian layers called "Kupferschiefer".
It was found in the Richelsdorfer Revier, Bauhaus near Iba in Germany
The slab was broken once, it measures about 16 x 10 x 1.5 cm. The fish has a size of about 13 cm.
Coelacanths were considered extinct and it was a sensation when fishermen catched a specimen in South Africa in the year 1938.
Fossilized Coelacanths are extremely rare in the Kupferschiefer layers and in many collections are only small fragments of this rare species.
We are very pleased to be able to offer you an almost complete specimen of this "living fossil".
Do not miss the opportunity to expand your collection with this rarity.
