This predatory fish Acrolepis sedgwickii comes from the layers of the upper Permian (Kupferschiefer) of
Richelsdorf in the north-east of Hessen in Germany.
The age of this fossil amounts to about 258 million years.
Acrolepis is one of the rarest fish fossils of the Kupferschiefer, every collector is happy
and prouzd about such an almost complete individual of this "Kupferschiefer Pike".
The fossil measures about 50 cm. It shows beautiful details, for example. the complete dentition
is wonderfully preserved. The slab was broken and has been professionally glued, it measures
approximately 51 x 16 x 2 cm.
The back of the stone has been reinforced with fiberglass mats and epoxy resin to prevent future cracking
of the fossil. It is now very stable and can be sent without any problems.
