Products description

This insect comes from the Oligocene (Chattium) of Rott, Hennef in Germany. The age of the fossil is approximately 24 million years.

This fossil deposit has achieved world fame due to the richness and excellent preservation of the fossils that have been preserved in the leafy coal.

The location does not exist anymore, today there is a golf course.
Most of the finds from earlier times were destroyed because the permanent preservation of the fossils is difficult, the leafy charcoal quickly bulges and crumbles. Unfortunately new discoveries are not possible. See also the interesting informations on Wikipedia.

The fossil offered here was glued to a piece of synthetic wood and is therefore quite stable.

Fossils from this site are not for sale anywhere, it was part of an inheritance that we have taken over.
