Plant fossils crystallized, Messelformation

Here we offer you a fossil from a very unusual location for sale. It is a stone with several 
crystallized plant fossils.

The piece comes from the Eocene - the so-called trade Messel-formation - and is therefore about 
50 million years old. It was found in the former lignite mine "Prinz von Hessen" in Germany. The opencast 
mine was operated between 1909 and 1924. At the end of the dismantling, the pit quickly filled with 
water; today it is a popular bathing lake. The lake is only 3 kilometers next to the world-famous 
"Messel Pit" fossil site.

The stone is unbroken, it measures about 9 x 8 x 1.5 cm. It contains several crystallized plant fossils.

Interesting and rarely offered piece. Everything original - no manipulations at all.
