Products description

Homo Rudolphensis Skull KNM-ER 1470

The Typus specimen of this species. Found in August 1972 in Koobi Fora, Kenya by Bernard Ngeneo from Richard Leakey´s Team. This 1,8-1,9 Million year old skull was earlier seen as H. Habilis but from 1986 classified as H. Rudolphensis because of important morphological differences. Compared to the smaller skull H. Habilis KNM-ER 1813 from the same location, you find for example only a minor extended Eyebrow, the face of 1470 is much longer and the maxilla is not rounded but more edgy. This shows that in East Africa of the plio Pleistocene at least two early hominids have lived that belong to our ancestors.
The skull ist composed of three parts that zoologist Meave Leakey reconstructed from more than 150 bone chips.

This cast is handcoloured and made of Epoxi. The colours may be a little differend than shown on the pictures. The handcraft makes every cast unique.
