Products description

Cast reproduction of a reconstruction from an adult cranium of the legendary Homo erectus found in the cave of Zhoukoudian, near Peking/China, well known as the Peking man. For this reconstruction by Gary Sawyer and Ian Tattersall from the American Museum of Natural History the original casts of those fossils were used, that got lost in the 2nd Worldwar, all in all remains of 4 individuals. They were found between 1928 and 1937 by W.C. Pei for the chinese Lab for Känozoic sciences and were published firstly by the German Scientist Franz Weidenreich in 1943. The Peking man lived about 500 000 years ago and is a direct ancestor of the present mankind.

This cast is handcoloured and made of Epoxi. The colours of the cast may be a little differend than shown on the pictures. Because of the handcraft every cast is unique.
