Fossils: Palaeoxyris (Shark Egg Case)
Age:  Pennsylvanian (Upper Carboniferous)
Location:  Illinois (Mazon Creek)

This is a good example of a classic fossil from Mazon Creek. Uncommon piece, the egg is still attached to a piece of plant which is very unusual.

There are both sides of the nodule The stones are unbroken, they measure about 6 x 4 cm. The egg is well preserved, it measures about 5,5 cm in length.

The fossils have been covered with a thin layer of laquer (could be removed easily with Aceton) no further manipulations!
