Gingko leaf

This fossil leaf of Gingko adiantoides was found in the paleocene layers of North Alamont, North Dakota, USA. The age of this fossil is about 56 mio. years.

The leaf measures about 5,5 cm. The matrix is original and unbroken, it measures about 10,5 x 9 cm. It contains some more plant fossils (?maple) on its backside.

Nice contrast, white fossils on dark stone.

No manipulations at all!
