Horntail from Solnhofen

This Horntail ?Mirmicium schroeteri was found in the famous upper jurassic layers of Solnhofen, Germany.

The insect is well preserved, even the fragile wing-structures are clearly visible. It measures abou 5 x 5 cm. One of the slabs was broken and have been glued. The stones measure about 21 x 19 cm.

The insect have been covered with a thin layer of laquer, this could be removed easily by using Aceton. No further manipulations.
