Dragonfly and fly inside tar

These fossilized insects were found in the famous pleistocene age tar pits of Rancho La Brea located in the middle of Los Angeles, USA.

The piece contains an extremely rare and well preserved dragonfly, another fly and several other unidentified fossils. The preservation of these insects is fantastic!

Rancho La Brea fossils do rarely reach the open market, this piece comes from an old collection.

The stone is unbroken, it measures about 9 x 7 x 4 cm.
