This piece of oak (Quercus) was found in the 1980´s in the holcene sediments of the "Tagebau Bärwald" of Vorschnitt near Schöpsdorf / Germany which was shut down in 1992 (foosil part of the river Spree).
The wood is unbroken, it measures about 28 cm in diameter and about 8 cm in width. It has been dated and is about 8.000 years old.
