Products description

This starfish Urasella asperula comes from the Lower Devonian period and was found in Bundenbach in the Hunsrück region
in Germany.
This fossil is approximately 400 million years old.

Urasterella is an extinct genus of the class Asteroidea that lived from the Ordovician thru to the Devonian.
Fossils are known from Europe, North America and southern Africa.
Although intact starfish fossils are uncommon, there are a few locations where accumulations of complete skeletal structures
occurred, like the "starfish beds" of the Bundenbach slate. Unfortunately the location is no more productive and can be
decidered as extinct.

The animal is completely preserved and superbly prepared.

The largest dimension of the fossil is about 12.5 cm. The stone is unbroken and measures approximately
19.5 x 15.5 x 0.7 cm.

A detailed, well-prepared, and high-quality specimen!
