This magnificent fossilized fern Pecopteris cyathea originates from the Permian region of Bad Sobernheim in Germany. The site is quite well known: it is the former "Eimer" brickworks pit. Unfortunately this site has long been extinct. Many collectors of fossilized plants have specimens from there in their collections – mostly smaller stones that were collected during the pit's active period. Stones as large as the one offered here are absolute rarities! We were fortunate enough to acquire this piece from the estate of the former excavator driver of the mine. The stone was once broken and measures approximately 55 x 16 x 3 cm. No tampering whatsoever! A rare opportunity!
