Pterichtyodes, Devonian placoderm #2

This armored fish, Pterichtyodes, comes from the Middle Devonian period of the Orkney Islands of Scotland.
This fossil is approximately 400 million years old.

Interestingly both sides of the split fossil are preserved, so you get two pieces.

The fish measures approximately 8.5 cm. 
Both pieces were broken and measure approximately 11 x 11 x 2 cm and 11 x 10 x 2 cm.

The fossil has been thinly varnished with a colorless varnish, which can easily be removed with acetone if desired.
