Products description

This is a fossil bat Palaeochiropteryx tupaiodon, from the Eocene sediments of the world-famous Messel Pit
in Germany

Messel fossils are highly sought-after collector's items. The site has been inaccessible for decades.
The Messel Pit is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and no new finds have come onto the market.
This is an old find from over five decades ago. According to the sticker on the back, the piece was found
on October the 3rd in 1970.

As is common with Messel fossils, this exhibit was prepared using the so-called resin transfer method. This is
the only way to preserve such fossilspermanently.

The largest measurable distance on the fossil is approximately 9 cm. The plate is unbroken and measures
approximately 12 x 9.5 x 0.5 cm.
