This sea scorpion, Eurypterus tetragonophta, comes from the Bagovytsia Formation - Silurian, Ludlow - and is approximately 425 million years old. The fossil was found in Ustiv, Ukraine. The animal measures 5.3 cm. Both stones are unbroken, measuring 11 x 10 x 1.5 and 10 x 8 x 1 cm. This is a museum piece. Usually only fragments of these animals are found, and such fossils are often treated with paint or varnish to "beautify" them, or to "paint in" missing parts. The exhibit offered here is completely preserved - both plates are present (positive and negative side) and nothing has been varnished or added. A magnificent fossil without any tampering. SOLD
