Horsetail Neocalamites - nice plant fossil

This is a fossil horsetail Neocalamites merianii. The fossil comes from the lower Keuper of Neuenstein 
in Germany.

The plant is quite large and very well preserved. The original matrix measures approximately 
36 x 19 x 2 cm. The stone is unbroken and contains other interesting plant parts on the front and back.

Beautiful horsetail from the Triassic era!
