This stone contains fishfossils (on complete and one skull) from the Upper Triassic era -
Noricum, around 220 million years old - from Wiestal near Hallein, Salzburg area in Austria.
Finds of fossil fish from the Triassic are extremely rare and highly sought after by collectors
and museums.
The complete animal measures about 7 cm, the stone is unbroken and measures about 13,5 x 8,5 x 2 cm.
The white lines are natural calcite.
This exhibit was legally collected on private land in 1994. The search was only possible for
a few weeks, the site is extinct now.
