This stone comes from the middle Devonian of the Bergisches Land in Germany. It contains a very interesting
fossil of the plant Calamophyton sp. These are real first trees with progressive branching.
The front shows the upper end of the tree with various branches. The branches run through the entire stone.
On the back you can see smaller branches with interesting spore containers (sporangia).
The plate is unbroken and quite large, it measures approximately 31 x 23 x 4 cm.
No manipulations at all!
Interesting and very detailed museum piece!
