This Placoderm Millerosteus minor is from the Middle Devonian sediments. It was found in
Caithness, Scotland.
The fossil measures about 14 cm. The stone is original, it was broken once. The size is
about 21 x 15.5 x 2 cm.
The preservation of the fish is excellent, even the tail is there (this is often not the
case at these fossils).
The animal shows the finest details, the preparation was carried out very precisely,
carefully and with modern tools.
An excellent museum piece was created here using modern sandblasting technology under
the binocular lens.
This species is among the smallest known armored fish.
Not varnished - no manipulations at all!
This one is the best that we ever had!
