Ray-finned fish, oligocene age

This Ray-finned fish Dapalis macrurus is from the Oligocene of Cereste in France.

The preservation of the fossil is first class. 

The fish measures about 8.5 cm. The stone is unbroken, it measures about 17 x 11 x 1 cm.

This piece comes from an old collection. Nowadays he site is under strict protection, 
no new pieces from there reach the market.
