This partial skeleton of Ichthyosaurus comes from the Lower Jurassic (Lias epsilon) of Holzmaden.
The fossil finds from Holzmaden are world famous due to their excellent condition.
The last meal of this reptile were two fish which have clearly been preserved in the abdominal area.
Remarkable: The fish are still articulated, so they must have been swallowed whole. Shortly thereafter,
the ichthyosaur died before the meal could be digested.
Museum worthy top rarity for the advanced collection!
