These two pieces of "Travertine" contain fossil leaves. They come from the early holocene age and were found in the limestone quarries of Penickental near Jena-Wöllnitz in Germany.
The heavily calcareous water has left large quantities of travertine behind. Small quarries bear witness
to 300 years of use, e.g. in the local glass industry and for the production of toothpaste.
The exhibits are unbroken, they measure about 13 x 10 x 4 cm and 9 x 8 x 3 cm.
No manipulations at all!
