This skull of Nothosaurus marchicus comes from the middle triassic age - Muschelkalk (the so-called Orbicularis layer) of Farnstädt in Sachen-Anhalt in Germany. This layer is quite interesting, to our knowledge it is not yet clear whether it is the upperst part of lower-Muschekalk or the lowest part of middle-Muschekalk. Every collector of Muschelkalk fossils knows about the rarity of reptile skulls. The skull offered here is an extremely rare species - only about one dozen skulls of this type are known worldwide - so they are comparable in their rarity to the famous fossil of the world - the Archaeopteryx. The fossil was broken and was glued. The largest measurable dimensions of this piece are about 17 x 9 cm. Do not miss this unique opportunity - something similar will surely not be offered anywhere else! SOLD
