Dipterus - rare lungfish

This fossil fish Dipterus  was found in the Devonian layers of Scotland (Old Red) - Orkney Islands.

Dipterus is an extinct genus of lungfish whose fossils are extremely rare. The rarity of these species makes them interesting collectibles for museums and collectors.

The fish is completely preserved, it measures about 16 cm. The stone measures about 18 x 8.5 cm.

The stone was broken and have been glued - no further manipulation!

Interesting object for the advanced collection.
