This insect (Tipula decrepita) was found in the eocene layers (Green River Shale) of Douglass Pass, Colorado, USA.
The preservation is fantastic, even the structures of the wings are clearly visible. Wingspan is about 3 cm. The stone is original and unbroken, it measures about 4,5 x 4 cm.
To protect the fossil, it has been covered with a thin layer of lacquer (can be removed). No other manipulations.
