Products description

Theses three pleistocene rodent bones were found inside the Mc Kittrick tar seeps. They are located in the foothills of the Temblor Range, just west of the town Mc Kittrick in Kern County, California.

The bones are well preserved. They measure 2,5 to 3,5 cm.

There are only a few known asphalt lakes worldwide. Animals are sometimes unable to escape from the asphalt if they fall in and this makes these pits excellent locations to excavate bones of prehistoric animals.

Rarely offered fossils!
