Devonian Stromatolith cut and polished #4

These fossil stromatolites date back to the middle Devonian (Givetian) and are about 385 million years old.

The fossil was found in the Orkney Islands of Scotland - Yasnaby Sandstone Group.

The stone is unbroken, it is solid and very stabile. It measures about 10 x 9 x 5,5 cm. One side was cut and polished to be able to look into the interior of these strange creatures. The other sides are natural.

Unusual and rarely offered fossil - we are able to organize larger pieces on request.
