Devonian Stromatolith cut and polished #3

These fossil stromatolites date back to the middle Devonian (Givetian) and are about 385 million years old.

The fossil was found in the Orkney Islands of Scotland - Yasnaby Sandstone Group.

The stone was broken once, it is solid and very stabile. It measures about 21 x 7 x 2,5 cm. One side was cut and polished to be able to look into the interior of these strange creatures. The other side has been cut.

Unusual and rarely offered fossil - on request we can organize larger pieces.
