Devonian Stromatolith cut and polished #2

These fossil stromatolites date back to the middle Devonian (Givetian) and are about 385 million years old.

The fossil was found in the Orkney Islands of Scotland - Yasnaby Sandstone Group.

The stone is unbroken and very stabile. It measures about 20 x 7 x 6 cm. One side was cut and polished to be able to look into the interior of the stromatolites .. The other sides are natural - nice to see in this piece is the cylindrical structure of these creatures.

Unusual and rarely offered fossil - on request we can organize larger pieces.
