Products description

This left side lower jaw of the extinct giant deer Megaloceros was found in the pleistocene layers of the upper Rhine region in Germany.

The fossil measures about 18 cm in length. It contains two original teeth (they are not replaced).

Remarkeable are the interesting bite marks - it seems this poor animal has been eaten by a carnivore animal like ?Hyaena, Wolf or Lion.

The jaw was broken and have been glued - no further manipulations, it is heavily mineralized which indicates a quite high age.
