Fossil wood in nodule from Germany

This nodule with fossil wood comes from the Cretaceous period, about 122 million years ago. It was found in a former brick-clay pit in Resse (about 10 km north-west of Hanover, Germany).

The nodule is unbroken, it measures about 18 x 9 x 6 cm. It is quite stable and heavy.
