Product no.: MIPA 2
These two armored fish, Microbrachius dicki, come from the Middle Devonian period of the Orkney Islands of Scotland. These fossils are approximately 400 million years old. This offer is for a pair, meaning you will receive a male and a female individual of these rare armored fishes. Both fishes are completely preserved. These are NOT split fossils, meaning the fossils were painstakingly exposed by the surrounding rock using modern sandblasting techniques. Highly interesting: In this species, reproduction by copulation has been scientifically documented for the first time. The males had two copulatory organs – one on each side of the body. Males are extremely rare, only one male is found for every 100 females found. Perfectly prepared and rare exhibits: - Rarely offered pair – a female and a male individual - The male clearly shows the two copulatory organs - Complete and perfectly three-dimensionally prepared fossils! - No manipulation whatsoever – all original! Both stones were broken once and have been glued professionally. A unique opportunity – grab it now! SOLD
